How'd you get your start? "My Mom. She played one year at Case Western and then decided to stick with volleyball. She was the person who (in fourth grade) told me to try it."
Have you always played down low? "No, (when I started) I played guard and post. I had already grown into my body. Some girls can have that awkward phase; I really didn't."
Why are you so comfortable with mixing it up? "Well, I was bigger than most of the girls. ... Plus, I have two brothers that got me into playing with the boys in the neighborhood. When I was in elementary school there weren't any girls in my neighborhood."
So you were a tomboy? "You could say that, but now I'm totally not. I like bows and sparkles."
Who do you look up to? "My mom a lot and my dad, too. My mom and I are pretty similar. We like the same kind of sports and we both think my dad is the funniest person alive. I actually have lived a super-blessed life and love the people I have in my life."
Favorite Christmas gift: "Probably a Pandora bracelet from my boyfriend's family. It has a cross on it and I'm really religious (she goes to St. Joseph's)."
Favorite athlete: Kobe Bryant.Who taught you those post moves? "My freshman coach (Jason Ellis) when I was in seventh grade. Coach Vogt has kind of helped me perfect them."
