Allyson Dimagno scored 13 of her 24 points in the fourth quarter and Brittany Wilson had 7 of her 9 as Fairport (15-1), ranked first in the Democrat and chronicle large schools poll, rallied from a nine-point deficit.
"Those two really stepped up for us," coach Scott Forrest said. "We tried to pick up the pressure a little bit, but what happened was, we just started to become better offensively."
Penfield (14-2), ranked sixth in the Democrat and Chronicle large schools poll, led by seven at halftime and nine at the end of the third quarter.
Jessica Harman had six of her 17 points in the third as the Patriots stretched their lead to as much as 13 points.
Shelby Vakinier hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 10 points with about five minutes to go in the quarter for Fairport.
"[Penfield was] just hitting some great shots, and that kind of got us back on track," Forrest said. "I thought that was one of the biggest shots of the game. After being down at halftime, we regained our composure in the third."
The Red Raiders went 18-for-22 from the foul line. DiMagno went 7-for-7 and Wilson was 3-for-4 in the fourth quarter.
DiMagno grabbed 13 rebounds for the Red Raiders.
"This was a really great game between two strong teams," Forrest said. "i'm sure we're gonna see them again in the sectionals."
