Junior guard Ali Fitzgerald made three 3-pointers in the second quarter to spark Penfield to a 59-45 win over Webster Thomas in a Monroe County girls basketball game on Tuesday.
Fitzgerald made a total of four 3-pointers to finish with 16 points. Penfield teammate Emma Guy grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds and finished with 15 points.
Makaila Wilson scored six points during a 10-0 run by Penfield at the start of the game. Webster Thomas answered with a 10-0 run, including a pair of 3-pointers by Candaisy Crawford, before Penfield's Mary Doyle made a 3-pointer at the end of the quarter.
The Patriots also made shots from the free-throw line, 17 of 21 attempts.
Webster Thomas freshman guard Miranda Lynch made five 3-pointers, as she scored 22 of her game-high 24 points in the second half. The Titans (8-4) are No. 8 in the latest Democrat and Chronicle Section V Large-School Coaches' Poll.
No. 3 Penfield (9-2), which has won its last two games since a loss to undefeated Rush-Henrietta, hosts Spencerport (6-7) at 7:45 p.m. on Friday.
